Reflection--Digital Story

Today we are working on our Digital Story in photo story. I spent the day looking for quotes and photos that will illustrate those quotes. I think this is a great assignment to allow students to inteperet what they think certian quotes mean and allow them to reflect. Choosing photos to go along with the quotes allows creativity and interpretation. The ISTE Standard that I feel fits this project the best is 1.c. Promote students reflection using collaborative tools to reveal and clarify students conceptional understanding.

Reflection 6 February 4,2010

Today we skyped with 5th grade students. They asked us questions about how to write an autobiography and what is appropriate to put in an autiobiography. We answered thier questions by skype one at a time. It was interesting to see the students on the computer.

Today we set up two questions in Google documents and used the results from the class to form a graph. We also watched a short online video in regards to the use of google documents that was very interesting. This activty met the ISTE standards
2a, 3a and 3b because we collaborated with eachother before transfering the class data into a chart.

Reflection Day 4 (1-28-10)

Today we went on Facebook to the group Web 2.0 and schools. We watched a short online video on the debate in regards to the book "Dumbest Generation" and how technology has destroyed the grammer and vocabulay skills of our youth. Joining the facebook group meets the ISTE standard 4-Promote and model digital citizenship and responsibilty because the group is like an online community.

Reflection Day 3 (1-26-10)

I was unable to attend class today, but was informed that the class joined a group called Classroom 2.0. I think I was able to join the group. I think joining a group meets the ISTE standard 5-Engage in Professional Growth and Leadership by allowing teachers to discuss thier ideas with one another.

Reflection Day 2 (1-21-10)

Today we continued to set up our Blogger accounts and began to follow our classmates blogs. We also created a resume using Google-Documents. I liked creating the resume online because it is automatically saved on google and I am able to access it from any computer whenever I need to. This meets the ISTE standard 3a because it allows us to convert our previous knowledge of composing a resume and to using more current technologies like google.

Reflection Day 1 (1-19-10)

Today we sent text messages in class about what we knew about California and the teacher imported the information into Wordle. We also set up a g-mail account and a blog account on blogger. I know nothing about any of this so far. I believe using these accounts meet the ISTE standard 3c because they allow us to communicate with our classmates and peers outside of the classroom.
